HOWEVER, WHAT I'M REALLY PLEASED TO SEE IS THAT OUR FOCUS IS ON FUNDING AND AT THE MOMENT, I THINK THAT'S OUR LARGEST CHALLENGE IN TERMS OF HELPING TO MEET THE OPPORTUNITY GAPS FOR ALL OF OUR STUDENTS AND SO SINCE WE HAVE TO CHOOSE THE HIGHEST PRIORITIES, THERE'S ONLY SO MUCH CAPACITY THAT WSSDA HAS AND THAT WE HAVE FOR ADVOCATING FOR WHAT MATTERS MOST AND I THINK FROM THE STATE RIGHT NOW, WHAT MATTERS MOST IS AMPLY FUNDING OUR SCHOOLS.
SO I WAS REALLY PLEASED TO SEE THAT WE ARE IN CONSENSUS THAT FUNDING IS ABSOLUTELY THE TOP PRIORITY AND NEEDS TO BE UNTIL THE STATE, BECAUSE IT'S HARD FOR US TO MEET ANY OF OUR OTHER PRIORITIES WITHOUT THAT KIND OF FUNDING AND TO PIGGYBACK OFF OF THAT, AS I WAS LOOKING AT THIS, THE ONE THAT I REALLY DO LIKE IN HERE IS REQUIRING THE FISCAL NOTES FOR THE UNFUNDED MANDATES.
I THINK THAT IS SOMETHING THAT WE JUST IT JUST SORT OF HAPPENS.
THE LEGISLATURE PASSES STUFF AND SAYS, HEY, YOU GUYS NEED TO TAKE CARE OF IT.

I REMEMBER AT THE END OF THAT MEETING, I HAD MENTIONED THAT WE WEREN'T QUITE TO A POSITION WHERE WE WERE MAKING FINAL DECISIONS ON START TIMES YET AND I ENCOURAGED INDIVIDUALS WHO HAD A STAKE IN THAT TO KIND OF HOLD THEIR WATER A LITTLE BIT AND NOW I THINK WE ARE GETTING TO A POINT WHERE WE ARE GETTING TO NEXT STEPS AND FINAL DECISIONS BEING CLOSE TO BEING MADE.
I KNOW THAT A SURVEY WENT OUT.
DOCTOR SCHWAB HAD MENTIONED THAT THERE'S GOING TO BE SOME MORE OUTREACH TO THE COMMUNITY.
SO DEFINITELY IF YOU WERE SOMEONE WHO HAD AN OPINION ON THAT ISSUE AT THAT TIME, NOW IS PROBABLY THE BEST TIME FOR THAT AND THEN THE LAST THING I WANTED TO HIT ON WAS OUR STATE FUNDING.
OBVIOUSLY, WE HAD OUR LAST TWO PRIORITIES THAT PRIMARILY SIT AROUND STATE FUNDING.
WE'VE TALKED TO EVERYBODY MULTIPLE TIMES AT THESE MEETINGS ABOUT BEING SURE THAT WE GET OUT THERE AND BE GOOD ADVOCATES FOR MAKING SURE THAT EDUCATION IS AMPLY FUNDED. YOU'RE GOING TO HEAR A LOT THIS YEAR ABOUT COMPETING PRIORITIES.
