WE HAVE A LOT OF STUDENTS IN SCHOOL RIGHT NOW.

I WAS ABLE TO TOUR SEVERAL OF OUR SUMMER SCHOOL SITES, BOTH OUR ESY SITE AS WELL AS OUR MULTILINGUAL LEARNER CLASSES.

IT WAS PRETTY FUN. I GOT TO TAKE TWO OF OUR NEW CABINET MEMBERS, AND THEY JUST HAPPENED TO BE PRACTICING INTRODUCING THEMSELVES AND SAYING, NICE TO MEET YOU AS A NEWCOMERS CLASS.

WE HAD A LOT OF FUN GETTING TO MEET ALL OF THE STUDENTS AND THE HIGH SCHOOL.

SUMMER SCHOOL HAS TREMENDOUS ENROLLMENT.

THE KIDS ARE PRIMARILY WORKING AT HOME, BUT GETTING HELP FROM TEACHERS ON SITE.

LOTS OF PHONE CALLS BEING MADE TO THEM ALREADY, EVEN THOUGH IT'S ONLY TUESDAY TO SAY, YOU HAVEN'T LOGGED IN.

WE HAVEN'T SEEN ANY PROGRESS. WHERE ARE YOU? THE KIDS ARE DEFINITELY HAVING A PRODUCTIVE SUMMER, SO IT'S BEEN REALLY TERRIFIC WITH THAT.

I RAN INTO SOME BUS DRIVERS AND STOPPED BY TRANSPORTATION, AND THEY ARE DRIVING THE KIDS AROUND AND GETTING USED TO THOSE ROUTES, AND WE'RE OFTEN RUNNING THE SUMMER SCHOOL.

ENDING FUND BALANCE IN MAY, IS VERY, VERY SIMILAR TO WHERE WE WERE AT IN APRIL, WHICH SHOWS THAT WE'RE APPROXIMATELY 1 MILLION BELOW, WHERE WE WERE, WHICH IS MUCH IMPROVED OVER THE '23, '24 BUDGET.

WITHIN OTHER FINANCING SOURCES, I JUST WANTED TO REMIND PEOPLE THAT ANYTHING THAT IS FUNDED BY THE CAPITAL PROJECTS, TECHNOLOGY LEVY HAS TO BE SPENT THERE IN THE GENERAL FUND FIRST, AND THEN THE TECH LEVY ACTUALLY REIMBURSES US, SO THAT'S WHAT THAT LARGER TRANSFER IN REPRESENTS.

AND THEN JUST A REMINDER THAT FEDERAL REVENUES ARE ALMOST ENTIRELY FUNDED ON A REIMBURSEMENT BASIS, SO THEY ARE LACKED BY ONE MONTH, SO DON'T BE CONCERNED IF THE EXPENDITURE IS A LITTLE BIT LOWER THAN THE 75% THROUGH THE YEAR.

IF WE LOOK AT THE GREEN ON THE TOP LEFT, IT'S SHOWING THAT FUND BALANCE IS COMING IN JUST SLIGHTLY OVER 5%.

REMEMBER THAT'S TOTAL FUND BALANCE, NOT UNASSIGNED, BUT THAT TOTAL IS WHAT MOODY'S DOES LOOK AT IN OUR BOND RATINGS, SO WE WANT TO KEEP IT OVER THAT FIVE.

>> FOR THEM IS 5% THE MAGIC NUMBER, WHEREAS, FOR US, IN TERMS OF THE ASSIGN THE UNASSIGNED IS 4%?

>> FIVE PERCENT IS THEIR BARE MINIMUM, THEY WANT TO SEE 10-15.

>> IT IS A BALANCE. THIS NUMBER IS VERY CONSISTENT WITH BOTH THE PRIOR MONTH TOTAL ENDING FUND BALANCE AS WELL AS WHERE WE HAVE PROJECTED FOR THE 24/25 BUDGET.

YOU'LL SEE THIS NUMBER IS ALMOST IDENTICAL TO WHAT THE BEGINNING FUND BALANCE FOR 24/25 IS IN THE UPCOMING BUDGET AUTHORIZATION.

THEN, SINCE IT IS JULY, I, OF COURSE, GET TO SEE JUNE ENROLLMENT, AND THERE'S ALWAYS A FEW LITTLE ADJUSTMENTS, VERY MINOR.

BASICALLY, WE SHOULD END THIS YEAR WITH 90 MORE FTE THAN WE DID A YEAR AGO, WHICH IS VERY EXCITING.

I THINK THAT EVERYBODY'S HELP ACROSS THE WHOLE DISTRICT, UNDER DR.

MINER'S LEADERSHIP, HAVE DONE AN AMAZING JOB WITH STAFF GIVING UP FURLOUGH DAYS, AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, AND ALL KINDS OF THINGS IN ORDER TO TRY TO MITIGATE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE THE PROBLEMS CAUSED BY THE FAULTY STATE FUNDING.

I KNOW WE ARE NOT THRILLED WITH OUR BUDGET, AND YET WE HAVE MET THE GOALS THAT WE NEEDED TO MEET IN TERMS OF THE BUDGET, AND WE'RE HOPEFUL THAT WE'RE ABLE TO CONTINUE TO MEET THE GOALS OF THE DISTRICT GIVEN THE LIMITED BUDGET THAT WE HAVE.

I'VE GOTTEN THAT ANSWER, BUT I'VE GOTTEN ALSO SOME REALLY GOOD ANSWERS.

THAT'S THE KEY QUESTION IS, WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING TO DO TO FIX IT? KEEP PUSHING THAT AND PUSHING IT.
